Vancouver extends energy retrofit program to multi-family buildings
The city of Vancouver, BC has extended a program for energy retrofits and released a guide to the use of heat pumps for cooling and heating.
The Bring It Home 4 Climate program, which provides support and resources for residents to identify necessary energy upgrades and solutions, has been extended to owners and renters of multi-family buildings including apartments, condos and cooperative housing. The guide, Heat Pump Retrofit Guide for Strata and Co-op Buildings, offers information on heat pumps and their benefits, and advice for planning a low-rise multi-unit residential building heat pump retrofit project.
According to the city, nearly 60 per cent of carbon pollution in Vancouver comes from fossil fuels to heat and cool buildings.
