Successful PEI Switch program continues

Charlottetown, PEI’s Switch Efficiency Program offers residents funding for home upgrades that save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The program, which launched in July 2021, offers zero-interest loans and technical advice to consumers renovating their homes with energy efficient technology, while helping them access other provincial and federal funding programs.

Eligible upgrades include the installation of solar panels and geothermal and air-source heat pumps, smart thermostats and more, as well as upgrades to electrical panels for heat pump installation. Residents may be eligible for up to $40,000 or 15 per cent of their property value (whichever is less) in financing.

Funding for the program comes through The Federation of Canadian Municipalities, with the city contributing 20 per cent of the cost.
