ENERGY STAR Canada names Panasonic manufacturer of the year

Panasonic has been named manufacturer of the year in the 2021 ENERGY STAR Canada Awards. The awards recognize outstanding achievements in promoting and improving energy efficiency in products, homes and buildings.

ENERGY STAR Canada is a partnership between government and more than 1,000 organizations, run by Natural Resources Canada. Last year products certified by the organization saved enough energy to power more than 392,000 homes for a year.

Mississauga, ON-based Panasonic Canada Inc. was named manufacturer of the year in the heating and cooling equipment category. Panasonic was recognized for its 2020 accomplishments, which included increasing the number of available ENERGY STAR-certified models for sale by eight per cent, boosting sales of certified products by 11 per cent, and promoting awareness of these products through more than 20 online training sessions for builders, engineers, architects and NGOs.

Montreal-based National Energy Equipment Inc., a distributor of HVAC products, was awarded with recruit of the year in recognition of its promotion of ENERGY STAR-certified air source heat pumps in Quebec. In 2020 the company increased the number of Trane Technologies’ heat pump models by more than 25 per cent, and facilitated ENERGY STAR certification of five heat pump indoor/outdoor combinations based on market demand.

This is the first time either company has won an ENERGY STAR Canada award.
