Rheem wins gold at 2021 Edison Awards

Rheem’s ProTerra line of residential water heaters won gold at this year’s Edison Awards, Sustainability category.

Rheem has won gold at the 2021 Edison Awards in the Sustainability category for its ProTerra line of residential water heaters. The awards, which are named after inventor Thomas Edison, recognize innovative products, services and businesses.

The ProTerra hybrid line of residential water heaters, introduced in Canada in October 2020, was one of four gold-winning products recognized in the Sustainability category. According to Rheem, the line offers efficiency of up to 4.0 UEF, more than four times the efficiency of any standard electric tank-type water heater on the market, representing possible energy savings of up to 76% annually.

“Rheem is proud to have represented the sustainably focused future of our industry at this year’s Edison Awards” says Ankur Maheshwari, director of global product management, decarbonization, for Rheem. “ProTerra’s high-efficiency features have set the standard for environmentally conscious products in the plumbing industry and the line is already serving as the foundation for the next generation of sustainable innovations at Rheem.”
