The Honda dealership in St. Albert, Alta., has driven off with the title after a vote to find Canada’s Best Restroom. The dealership, located just outside Edmonton, claimed its prize of $2,500 in Cintas Canada products and services to keep its washrooms as clean and shiny as the cars in the showroom.

Modelled on the dealership’s colours and featuring an accent wall inspired by a car’s tachometer, the public were won over by specialty fixtures such as touchless faucets, soap dispensers, hand dryers and towel dispensers, and the availability of baby changing facilities in both male and female washrooms.

Dealership owner Ross Hodgins said, ”The customer’s first impression is important in any retail experience, so we put just as much thought into our restrooms as our showrooms and service areas because we want to provide the best experience.

”We’re fans of our user-friendly, hands-free and auto-themed washrooms, so we’re excited to learn that Canadians find our facilities worthy of the title.”

The 2018 finalists were selected based on cleanliness, visual appeal, innovation, functionality and unique design elements. Online voting was open to the public from July 16 through August 17.

The rest of the top 5 were: Erin Mills Town Centre in Mississauga, Ont., Anh and Chi Vietnamese restaurant in Vancouver, Saskatchewan Science Centre in Regina, and Toronto’s Oretta Italian restaurant.
