HRAI names successor for president
May 1, 2018
HRAI has unveiled the identify of its next leader. At the beginning of May, association chair Bruce Passmore announced that Sandy MacLeod will succeed Warren Heeley as president of the industry organization. Warren has agreed to stay on until the end of June to provide adequate transition time.
An experienced business leader who most recently held the position of chief operating officer for print at Star Media Group, which included the Toronto Star and Metro English Canada, MacLeod has experience running both small and large business operations.
He also brings considerable association board experience to his new role, having been involved with several associations in the communications industry, including serving as president of the North American Division of the International News Media Association, media research lead for Vividata, and chair of Advertising Standards Canada. He is a graduate of the MBA program at Queen’s University.
Passmore stresses that the combination of MacLeod’s business acumen, wide range of experience, understanding of the Canadian marketplace and the time spent serving on association boards makes him an ideal fit for this role. ”It’s an opportunity for HRAI to experience a fresh perspective,” says Passmore.
